An assessment framework for contemporary commercial music (CCM) in higher education

Purpose The aim of the article is to develop a framework for assessment contemporary commercial music (CCM) in department that still organised traditional way. Assessment CCM tertiary institutions and external graded exams were described analysed, followed by presentation an framework. Design/methodology/approach This research design content analysis. Data was collected through purposive sampling primary sources syllabi. These syllabi are used descriptively analytically comparison. Findings major findings from analysis presented as CCM. has implications teaching learning vocal at both undergraduate postgraduate higher education. Practical study focused on development criteria CCM, where no degree specialisation exists, manifested principal instrument only. may be useful practitioners academics who attempting introduce classically oriented departments constraints prohibit introduction specialising Originality/value presents authentic considers its style performance practices.
